The Lake Pichola Wedding, A Royal Island Celebration.
The wedding of Riya & Arjun: A bespoke 3-day multi-venue celebration orchestrated across The Oberoi Udaivilas, Zenana Mahal, and Jagmandir Island Palace for 260 outstation guests.
When London-based corporate professionals Riya & Arjun decided to host their destination wedding in India, they sought an experience that honored authentic Mewari heritage while feeling effortlessly welcoming for their 260 travelling guests. Over three carefully structured days, our production team transformed iconic historic sites into intimate ceremonial spaces, giving each function a distinct aesthetic and rhythmic pacing.
The multi-day itinerary began with an intimate lakeside welcome dinner, moved into a sunlit courtyard Mehendi accented by Rajasthani folk musicians, shifted into a high-energy Sangeet gala within royal stone walls, and culminated in a majestic sunset wedding ceremony conducted entirely on Lake Pichola.
THE SETTING
Lake Pichola: Shores & Island Sanctuary
Selecting the right venues was paramount to balancing logistics with breathtaking grandeur. Accommodation and daytime celebrations were anchored at The Oberoi Udaivilas, where 50 acres of Mewari domes, reflection pools, and sprawling lawns provided a self-contained private retreat for outstation families.
For the sacred sunset vows, guests boarded private chartered wooden flotillas at dusk and glided across the tranquil lake waters to Jagmandir Island Palace. The 17th-century island sanctuary offered 360-degree views of the illuminated City Palace and Aravali ridgelines, creating an extraordinary natural amphitheater for Vedic rituals.
THE BRIEF
Precision Planning Without Rigidity
Riya & Arjun entrusted Weddings Mine with a clear operational mandate: they required complete peace of mind that their elderly relatives and overseas visitors would be cared for seamlessly, without the family getting overwhelmed by administrative duties during ceremonies.
The technical rider required coordinating maritime transfers across Lake Pichola under changing dusk winds, navigating municipal sound curfews, coordinating police escorts for the lakefront baraat, and providing bespoke dietary menus for Jain, vegan, and international attendees.
OUR APPROACH
End-to-End Orchestration & Logistics
Weddings Mine established an integrated on-ground command center covering five core execution pillars:
Bespoke Mandap Scenography: Designing an open-concept mandap pavilion on the Jagmandir waterfront, using hand-carved stone plinths woven with over 2,500 stems of fresh white rajnigandha and regional pink lotus buds.
Lake Flotilla Radio Network: Coordinating a fleet of 14 private motorized boats and decorated shikaras on closed radio frequencies to synchronize boarding times and prevent jetty crowding.
Sound Curfew Strategy: Structuring outdoor musical performances to conclude gracefully before 10:00 PM, transitioning guests seamlessly to soundproofed indoor royal banquet halls for late-night revelry.
Artisan Collaboration: Contracting vetted Mewari folk artists, Shehnai maestros, and traditional henna masters directly at net cost without intermediate vendor markups.
THE EXPERIENCE
From Arrival Flotillas to Twilight Pheras
The wedding day commenced with a vibrant lakeside courtyard Haldi and pool celebration at Udaivilas. Yellow marigold torans, earthen urlis, and bespoke cocktail service gave outstation guests time to relax and connect.
By late afternoon, the groom’s baraat gathered at the private jetty, proceeding across Lake Pichola accompanied by traditional Mewari conch shells and dhol players. As the flotilla docked at Jagmandir Island, guests were received under illuminated stone jharokhas with rosewater sprays and fresh floral garlands.
The pheras took place exactly at golden hour. Over 800 brass oil lamps and floating candles illuminated the lake's edge as Sanskrit mantras were chanted, followed by an elegant lakeside banquet banquet featuring seasonal Mewari specialties.
HOSPITALITY
The Guest Experience Standard
Hospitality is the foundation of Weddings Mine's reputation. For this celebration, our team managed all outstation arrivals directly at Udaipur’s Maharana Pratap Airport:
Airport Desks & Transit: Meet-and-greet hospitality concierges received every flight from London, Dubai, and Mumbai with cooled water and luggage tagging.
Pre-Keyed Check-In: Hotel keys were pre-programmed, allowing tired international travellers to bypass hotel lobby queues and proceed directly to their rooms.
Custom Welcome Hampers: Silk-lined gift boxes containing organic local delicacies, copper drinkware, artisanal attar perfume, and personalized bilingual event guides.
24/7 Hotel Helpdesk: Dedicated hospitality managers stationed in the resort lobby assisted with ironed garments, salon appointments, and local city excursions.
THE RESULT
Family Presence & Effortless Joy
By handling all logistics, maritime permits, and guest care with quiet rigor, the hosts and their parents were able to participate entirely as relaxed, joyful guests at their own daughter and son’s celebration.
“From the minute our friends and family stepped onto the wooden boats at the jetty, everyone fell in love with Udaipur. Farookh and his team made our wedding feel effortless, dignified, and completely unforgettable.”
